ok so i guess we were kidding when we said last sat/sun were our last days over at Mew Gallery.

well ok, they were supposed to be but we just have so much stuff left over that we are extending our liquidation sale a bit.

Friday Jan 15 & Sat Jan 16 are our final, final, FINAL days. That’s TOMORROW and the day after that, folks! Consider this your absolute LAST CHANCE to take home a little piece of Mew with you.

Prices are slashed (all merchandise is $5 and under!!!) and we do still have some good finds to rummage through. T-shirts! jewelry! cards and stationary! clothing! display lighting! jewelry displays! prints, prints and more prints!!!

we also still have a selection of awesome fixtures that are a little over $5 including:

a vintage metal rolling/collapsable large (36″ diameter) clothing rack, custom built computer/cash register counter unit with built in shelves, drawers and display case- great for home office or commercial use!, hand-built 2-tier suspended tree branch clothing rack, and an industrial stainless steel 3 bin Eagle sink- great for commercial use or for any artist studio!

Mew Gallery Holiday & Closing Information

After 3 wonderful years, Mew Gallery will be closing for good. We so appreciate all of your support!!

Don’t cry South Philly locals! Something new and just as exciting will be opening in the neighborhood in February! Look for Nice Things…Handmade coming soon to 1731 East Passyunk Ave. It’s a new store/gallery by our friend Elissa Kara!

Before we say goodbye for good, though, we want you to know the following info:

1. We will be closed for Christmas vacation from Dec. 24 - Jan. 1.

2. We should still be open for business January 2 - January 11 as we pack up. There will be furniture and fixtures for sale too!!

3. If you are an artist who consigns here please make an appointment with us to come get your stuff (or make arrangements to ship it back)! Hopefully you already got the email and letter we sent out last month. If not, please note that all of your merchandise must be picked up before January 8, 2010 or it will become property of Mew Gallery LLC or be donated to a charity. The best way to reach us is by email: mewgallery(at)yahoo(dot)com. Most artists are making appointments for the week of January 4 - January 8. Mon - Fri. Let us know what works best for you!!

We are sorry to announce that the holiday exhibit, TONIGHT December 18, 2009, will be our last exhibit! So come on by and enjoy a holiday show by some of the artists from McJawn.com

Apparently there will be music too!

Everything will be priced under $100 and available to leave with that night. Get your last minute holiday art shopping on!

tomorrow is the 2nd of 3 Aviaire trunk shows that i’m having down at the South Philadelphia Tap Room (1509 Mifflin St).
Please come out for some great deals on holiday gifts for that special lady or man friend in your life! (about 30% off retail prices on EVERYTHING!)
for her: antique watch movement, pocket watch casing, and typewriter key necklaces, rings, earrings, and pins.
for him: watch movement and typewriter key cufflinks and tie tacks/lapel pins. OH, and did i mention the LIBERTY BELLS??
also hand-crocheted hats to keep your ears warm, recycled leather and crocheted wrist cuffs.

last week i sold out of the watch movement necklaces in the first hour (!!!) so please come early so you get first pick! (i’ve been working my little fingers to the bone, so you’ll all have a good selection to start with)

Benefit for my dear friend Dave

Hi everyone,

a year ago my friend Dave found out that he has brain cancer. Two surgeries, and multiple treatments later, he’s still going strong in his battle, but since the war with cancer is not cheap, a few friends are putting together a great big benefit to raise money to help offset some of the costs, and well, just to show him how much we love him.

even if you do not know him personally, your support would be greatly appreciated. Please come out if you can make it, and help spread the word if you can’t.

Mew Gallery Presents:

Mew Gallery is proud to present its second show curated by the infamous Mike Geno. The Bacon Show is an exhibition of work celebrating the glory of bacon in all its sizzling, savory goodness. Featuring artists Ellen Cagnassola, Cho, Jacob Crose, Mike Geno, Ken B. Miller, SappyMoose Tree, John Wolfer, and more, the show will be up from October 31 through December 17. An opening reception for the artists will be held on November 7 from 5 to 9 pm.

Mike Geno is a Philadelphia artist whose subjects include sock monkeys, deranged toys, Tasty Kakes, and choice cuts of meat. His work elevates the kitsch and common to a unique level with a hard to resist mixture of humor and prowess.

Come out and celebrate your love for this cured breakfast meat before it jumps the shark like cupcakes did.

Circle Thrift is joining forces with Mew Gallery to host a clothing swap THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!

Bring the clothes you don’t want/can’t fit in/never wear/don’t have room for (in good condition and freshly laundered, please!) Your fellow participants will do the same. Unlimited swapping on clothing and accessories! You will have access to sewing machines, some ribbon, buttons, and other trim so you can update your new finds. $5 at the door shows your support for both great South Philly stores!
