About Michael Tolbert’s Work:
This photographic series began five years ago as a visual representation of desolation, isolation and unrest caused by a fast-paced, technology driven lifestyle filled with media bombardment. Over the past year the photographs have evolved from the confusion and discontent to a narrative of realization, struggle, and resistance. The individuals shown now are no longer lost and alone, but have faced their plight and either despairingly accepted it or rejected it with an ambition of finding a way back to our roots.
All photographs are made with a view camera on instant or hand-developed negatives. The prints are made in a wet darkroom on silver gelatin paper without ever interacting with a computer.

About Drew Tolbert’s Work:
The more I photographed architecture the more I realized that any structure, from the grandiose to the mundane was subject to its surroundings. Like their inhabitants, these man-made objects are evaluated in context with their neighbors. The urban collective will reshape any horizon with the unplanned diversity of its monuments. The most trivial of constructions offers the best vantage for these rigid skylines.
