“Thru personal and borrowed folklore artifacts and with the help of spirit animals and the purifying power of worms,
we seek to achieve an inate understanding of our imagery, while struggling for a sense of self awareness.
It’s an ongoing story. It’s fictional and introspective and, at the same time, full of personal truth.
There are no heroes or villains, just pieces of ourselves…”
-Abi and Sarah
Welcome to the mysterious visual world of artists Abi Galloza and Sarah Everton.
These artists share a love of the animal kingdom and a propensity for working in printmaking, illustration,
and mixed media. Join us as we celebrate their work and friendship at the start of the spring season!
Check out what’s happening in March!
Don’t forget to join us for the Second Annual Mew Gallery FUNdraiser! 8 PM on March 5 at North Star Bar! Scroll down to the last blog post for more info.
Introducing:
The ‘Artists of the Month’ Window Gallery!!
Starting on March 1, Mew Gallery will feature two “artists of the month” in the front window here at the shop. We will change the display to feature two more Philly artists every 4 weeks. The pieces will be displayed along with a little write up about the artists and their work. Each piece will also be featured in our webshop and consistently priced at $200. We’re starting this month with two favorites: Isaac Bushkin (check out his current exhibition at Art Star in Northern Liberties! It’s awesome) and Nikki Virbitsky of Tiny Airplanes. Come by at any time of day or night in March to see the new display and stop by any month to learn about local artists and their work! Not from the area? That’s okay! We’re posting their info right here on our website. Look over there at that menu on the right. See the Artists of the month page? Click on it!
Artists’ Co-op
We have a lot of room here at Mew Gallery so we figured we’d share it with some of our favorite people. Starting March 15th, half of the gallery space will feature mini-shops by local artists. Think of it like a little indoor craft fair. Each artist will have a small display set up for your perusal, every day! We’re expecting some great new goodies like baby clothes, jewelry, antiques and vintage finds, ceramics, handbags, prints and more. Come check it out mid-March.
We’ll be posting more info about our next exhibit soon. Mew Gallery will be showing the work of ABI, the governor of Worm City. Want to know more? Stay tuned…
The opening reception will be Saturday, March 22 from 5 to 9 PM.
