Opening Reception November 29, 2008
Friday, November 28th, 2008Mew Gallery Presents:
A Collection of new work by artists:
Katie Henry, Kathryn Moran, and James Ulmer
The opening reception is TOMORROW Saturday, November 29, 2008 from 5 - 9 pm at Mew Gallery, 906 Christian Street, in the heart of the cozy Italian Market. The show will run until the first week in January.
James Ulmer will be exhibiting a new collection of ink drawings based on the American Civil war. The drawings include themes of love, loss, death and the American struggle. James’ work has been featured in countless group shows, on record covers, t-shirts and zines.

Katie Henry has been sewing for five years. She is obsessed with stories of feral children and her heavily embroidered, figurative works draw inspiration from these tales as well as vintage photographs, nature, and mythical creatures. In addition to her sewn drawings, Katie runs a successful handbag business called madebyhank.

Kathryn Moran is a painter who will be exhibiting prints for the first time. She created several prints from a combined image of a photograph by her father and a painting she made. Each print is hand painted. Though the imagery and conceptual elements are similar to Kathryn’s past work, the process is entirely new to her. She would like to thank Michael J. Moran and Caitlin Mosley for their contributions.
